Cheesy Beef Tater Tot Casserole
If you ask my seven year old, she has a few favorite meals. The first is almost anything breakfast. The others are chicken pot pie and Cheesy Beef Tater Tot Casserole.
Luckily for me, Cheesy Beef Tater Tot Casserole is one of the simplest dishes to make. For a busy family like ours, it can be prepped and in the oven in no time, and that’s the kind of recipe that makes my life easier.

Ingredients you’ll need
All you need is:
- Ground beef
- Cream of chicken soup
- Shredded cheese
- Frozen tater tots
Simple, right?
The prep is simple
Think layers.
First, brown the ground beef on the stovetop. Drain the meat, return it to the pan, and add the cream of chicken soup. Put the mixture in your casserole dish that you’ve sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray. That’s layer one.
Next, make it cheesy! Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheese on the first layer to make layer two.
Final layer – tater tots. Distribute them evenly over the top in a single layer. Cover everything well with the tots. And that’s layer three.
Bake & eat
Bake for 30 minutes at 375. This gives you time to help with some homework or put together a side dish.
My suggestion? Go with something that’s an easy heat and eat like a canned or frozen vegetable. Or tear up some lettuce and have a simple side salad. Remember – we’re busy, and any steps you can take to save time while still maintaining balance is a win!

Cheesy Beef Tater Tot Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 2 C shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 pkg frozen tater tots
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a 9×13 casserole dish with cooking spray.
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until no pink remains. Drain the grease and return the beef to the skillet. Add cream of chicken soup, and stir on medium low heat until thoroughly combined and soup is warm. Remove from heat.
- Spread meat mixture on bottom of casserole dish. Top with shredded cheese.
- Layer tater tots evenly over the casserole.
- Bake at 375 for approximately 30 minutes until the cheese is melted, tots are browned, and the casserole is slightly bubbly on the sides.
- Serve with your favorite vegetable.
